God's Boxes
I have in my hands two boxes,
Which God gave me to hold.
He said, "Put all your sorrows in the black box,
And all your joys in the gold."
I heeded His words, and in the two boxes,
Both my joys and sorrows I stored,
But though the gold became heavier each day,
The black was as light as before.
With curiosity, I opened the black,
I wanted to find out why,
And I saw, in the base of the box, a hole,
Which my sorrows had fallen out by.
I showed the hole to God, and mused,
"I wonder where my sorrows could be!"
He smiled a gentle smile and said,
"My child, they're all here with me.."
I asked God, why He gave me the boxes,
Why the gold and the black with the hole?
"My child, the gold is for you to count your blessings,
The black is for you to let go."
We should consider all of our friends a blessing.
Send this to a friend today just to let them know you
are thinking of them and that they are a joy in your
life.
A ball is a circle, no beginning, no end.
It keeps us together like our Circle of Friends.
But the treasure inside for you to see,
Is the treasure of friendship you've granted to me.
How do you behave to your
parents?
An 80 year old man
was sitting on the sofa in his house along with his 45
years old highly educated son. Suddenly a crow perched
on their window.
The Father asked his Son, "What is this?"
The Son replied "It is a crow".
After a few minutes, the Father asked his Son the 2nd
time, "What is this?"
The Son said "Father, I have just now told you "It's a
crow".
After a little while, the old Father again asked his Son
the 3rd time,
What is this?"
At this time some ex-pression of irritation was felt in
the Son's tone when
he said to his Father with a rebuff. "It's a crow, a
crow".
A little after, the Father again asked his Son t he 4th
time, "What is this?"
This time the Son shouted at his Father, "Why do you
keep asking me the
same question again and again, although I have told you
so many times 'IT
IS A CROW'. Are you not able to understand this?"
A little later the Father went to his room and came back
with an old
tattered diary, which he had maintained since his Son
was born. On opening
a page, he asked his Son to read that page. When the son
read it, the
following words were written in the diary :-
"Today my little son aged three was sitting with me on
the sofa, when a
crow was sitting on the window. My Son asked me 23 times
what it was, and
I replied to him all 23 times that it was a Crow. I
hugged him lovingly
each time h e asked me the same question again and again
for 23 times. I
did not at all feel irritated I rather felt affection
for my innocent child".
While the little child asked him 23 times "What is
this", the Father had
felt no irritation in replying to the same question all
23 times and when
today the Father asked his Son the same question just 4
times, the Son felt
irritated and annoyed.
So..
If your parents attain old age, do not repulse them or
look at them as a
burden, but speak to them a gracious word, be cool,
obedient, humble and
kind to them. Be considerate to your parents. From today
say this aloud, "I
want to see my parents happy forever. They have cared
for me ever since I
was a little child. They have always showered their
selfless love on me.
They crossed all mountains and valleys without seeing
the storm and heat to
make me a person presentable in the society today".
Say a prayer to God, "I will serve my old parents in the
BEST way. I will
say all good and kind words to my dear parents, no
matter how they behave.
The Socrates Triple Filter Test
In ancient Greece,
Socrates was reputed to hold knowledge in high esteem.
One day an acquaintance met the great philosopher and
said, "Do you know what I just heard about your friend?"
Hold on a minute," Socrates replied. "Before telling me
anything, I'd like you to pass a little test. It's
called the Triple Filter Test."
Triple filter?"
That's right," Socrates continued. "Before you talk to
me about my friend, it might be a good idea to take a
moment and filter what you're going to say. That's why I
call it the triple filter test.
The first filter
is TRUTH. Have you made absolutely sure that what you
are about to tell me is true?"
No," the man said, "actually I just heard about it
and..."
All right," said Socrates. "So you don't really know if
it's true or not. Now let's try the second filter, the
filter of GOODNESS. Is what you are about to tell me
about my friend something good?"
No, on the contrary..."
So," Socrates continued, "you want to tell me something
bad about him, but you're not certain it's true. You may
still pass the test though, because there's one filter
left: the filter of USEFULNESS. Is what you want to tell
me about my friend going to be useful to me?"
No, not really."
Well," concluded Socrates, "if what you want to tell me
is neither true nor good nor even useful, why tell it to
me at all?"
This is why Socrates was a great philosopher & held in
such high esteem. Friends, use this triple filter each
time you hear loose talk about any of your near & dear
friends.
